Mission Statement:

To surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

Our work is guided by the Five Basic Principles of CIS.

We believe that every child needs and deserves:

• A personal one-on-one relationship with a caring adult

• A safe place to learn and grow

• A marketable skill to use upon graduation

• A healthy start and a healthy future

• A chance to give back to peers and community
THE FIVE BASICS
Communities In Schools is the nation's largest dropout prevention organization. Since 1995, Communities In Schools of the Tecumseh Area (CISTA) has had a focused mission of bringing community resources and caring adults into schools so all young people have the tools they need to succeed in school and in life.


During the 2010/2011 school year CISTA: 

     -  served 2,500 children 

     - over 450 parents were involved
       with or engaged by CISTA 

     - worked with more than 600 volunteers 

     - volunteers served more than 4,300 hours
